Quick Update

The last few days I've made a small profit at the cash tables and enough to cover a few of my tournament buy-ins.

I took another shot at 60/120 Wednesday night and it went well, but over the course of playing it for 5 or 6 hours i realized how swingy it was and how possible it was to lose $5,000 no problem so Ive decided to to stick to 40/80 for the rest of the trip.

James and I are heading to the Bicycle Casino today. They're hosting the NAPT Los Angeles right now, so there is going to be tons of pros there. The main event starts today , but they have a day 1A(today) and 1B which is tomorrow. The buy-in is $5,000 (same as Mohegan Sun which i played in April) and they are running a few mega satellites to win seats for day 1B so I might go try my luck and see if i can qualify at a very discounted price.

Tuesday November 9th

The last 2 days have been awesome. Aisha and I went to Beverly Hills and did the whole Rodeo Drive thing on Sunday, and of the few stores we actually went into in I can honestly say the prices are ridiculous. We went to Ralph Lauren and what i thought was just an average sweater apparently cost $700, and Im pretty sure it was a clearance item. Unreal.

After dropping Aisha off at LAX yesterday it was back to cards. I played the $220 double stack turbo and busted pretty early . over an hour or so in I had chipped down to about 75% of my starting stack. I got dealt AcQc in the big blind and defended to a raise. The flop was TcTs3c , i got it all in on the flop and ran into KK , and ended up busting the tournament fairly early.

I played 40/80 the rest of the day and ran really good.

Ive seen a few pros in the card room over the past few weeks including ; Barry Greenstein, Gavin Griffin, Greg Debora.
Yesterday at one point i was actually playing 4 handed 40/80 with Gavin griffin lol, and he rivered me in only heads up pot we had.

Today at 2pm is the 6 handed NLH $50,000 guaranteed

Sunday - noon pacific time

Sorry for the lack of blogs over the past few days for anyone thats actually reading these.

Since Thursday afternoon Ive broken even at the poker tables. I did however take my first shot at 60/120 FLH, and left up a few hundred which is essentially breaking even at that game . Before my trip to California  i had never had the opportunity to play high stakes poker live, and now after playing big the last week I don't want to slow down. The players are just as bad as the 2/5 or 5/10 game in Brantford except they all have money here.

Friday morning i meet Aisha at LAX , and we picked up our rental car for the weekend. We went back to Commerce for the afternoon then went downtown at night to watch the Lakers vs Raptors. The atmosphere is unreal at the at the staples center. I got tickets off scalpers for $150/pair  but within 20minutes fell victim to the big city crime , and got pick pocketed. It was quite a demoralizing experience. So i had to buy another pair off different guys for $200 , and on top of it all ticket scalping in LA is illegal so it was an all around sketchy situation.
After the game we drove to Laguna Beach and have been here ever since. Today we plan on going to Santa Monica and Beverly Hills then back to LA tonight so she can catch her flight tomorrow morning.

Ill be playing in a LA Poker Open event on Monday afternoon , so im looking forward to that.

Brantford boys i'll be out 2 weekends from now !
Hope everyone is doing well,
Will

Thursday - Noon pacific time

Just a quick summary ... The last few days I've been running like god. I took a shot at 40/80 on Monday night and haven't looked back . I put in 8 hours Tuesday and 8 hours Wednesday and crushed both days.

Its unreal how many bad players are here , and have no issue losing 3 or 4 thousand in one day, and literally have clue what they're doing.
The LA Poker Open started yesterday, and runs for the next 20days. So there will be tourneys everyday and a lot more people in the poker room.

I'm feeling a lot healthier and have been eating better the past few days.

Aisha is coming down for the weekend so it will be nice to take a break from cards. We all plan on going to the Laker's game Friday night and see them crush our very own Toronto Raptors.

Monday November 1st -- 4pm pacific time

I haven't been feeling well the past 2 days. I managed to get some sort of  stomach bug and haven't had much of a desire to play.

For a change of scenery Saturday  afternoon James and I took a cab to The Bicylce Casino which is about 10minutes away . I played 20/40 FLH (fixed limit hold em') and won a little bit. It was nice to get out of the Commerce for a bit but the action sucked there and we only stayed for 3 hours.

Saturday night we all went to Hollywood, and ended up at a club called Wonderland. Everyone was dressed up in Halloween costumes except us which was kind of lame , and the bar wasn't really our scene but never the less we still had a good time. Downtown LA is about 7 miles from where we are staying and it took an hour to get there because of traffic.

Sunday i just played online poker in the hotel room and watched football and baseball. I tried my luck in the Sunday Million on pokerstars. I lasted almost 3 hours and got it all in with KK but A7o sucked out on me.

Today we got up around noon , and i played 20/40 FLH until 2(left up $176) , and then went outside and laid by the pool for a few hours.

Tonight i plan on taking a shot at 40/80 FLH.

Friday's Updates

yesterday was such a confidence builder. I had my highest earnings ever for a single day!! after 16 hours of poker I was up $7,500.

I played 20/40 FLH from 10am - 5pm , and crushed the table for $1200. It was the softest 20/40 game i had ever played in my life. Some people had no clue what they were doing. Its funny because this game is considered the "big game" in the Brantford poker room but is peanuts here. They have 200/400 games going on the regular and higher.

I've been meeting some fellow online players who's screen names i know but I obvIously had no idea who they were. One specifically was grpoker2 , who is just a sicko and Jeff sweat him (got to see his whole cards) for 2 hours straight .

My big score came in the Friday Night $30.000 guareteed NLH tourney. It started at 6pm with 150 entrants. I made it to the final 5 people and we all agreed to divide of the remainder of the prize pool 5 ways based on how many chips we had! I was chip leader so i ended up cashing $6300.

Not sure whats on the agenda for today.
Happy Halloween people.

Safe & Sound in LA

Jeff and I arrived in LA on time Wednesday and got to the Commerce Casino around noon Pacific time . We dropped our bags off with the bell boy walked around for about about 30minutes and then jumped into a 20/40 FLH table which is the lowest game in the "high roller room". I played for 6 hours and left the table -$300 (which isn't a lot for that game). I proceeded to play a ridiculous $95 turbo tournament which had 58 entrants and i came 14th , but only top 5 cashed. James and his 2 friends showed up from Vegas later on and we pretty much called it a night.

On Thursday I played 20/40 FLH and lost $500 while waiting for the 40/80 FLH game. I played 40/80 all day and left the table up $300 but was still down $200 on the day which was annoying.

The high roller room is pretty sweet , they essentially treat you like royalty . Everything is pretty much on the house. For example last night i had a New York strip loin, mashed potatoes, a plate of fresh strawberries and a milkshake for dinner and all you have to do is tip the waitress $1.

Everyone is so laid back here its wicked. You can eat meals at the table, listen to your I pod, and the customer service goes above and beyond.
Also the LA Poker Open  starts November 3rd and runs for 3 weeks and it has some big tourneys so im excited to play in a few events.
